Hanukkah Greeting Cards (including one featuring the image/menorah above) are now available. See and Learn more on the /cards page.
On that note,  I ask you to think of whether you have ever seen a Hanukkah card with an actual menorah with candles lighted, shining brightly?
I couldn't. So I made that Menorah and captured the delight of a menorah fully alight.

Works in "Bricks" of Glass and Stone
(new works added)

Beyond the unique artistic aesthetic that is created by combining these two contrasting mediums (the strength of stone and the fragility of glass), these menorahs are designed to which pay homage to more than simply the long held celebration of Hanukkah.

The stone element pays homage to the strength of the Jewish faith and the great temples of Judea, all of which were built with stone - most notably the Second Temple of which it's Temple Mount still stands, serving as the holiest site in Judaism.  The survival of the Temple Mount is a  testament to the strength of the Jewish faith that has withstood persecution and oppression from its inception to this very day.

The glass elements are more than simply a contemporary aesthetic addition to these works. They represent the fragility of Judaism throughout history and the countless attempts to destroy it. Most poignant is Kristallnacht- The Night of Broken Glass,."

Over the next year and beyond, I will be devoting extra time to creating new works in this series that express this duality - the darkness of oppression and destruction of Judaism in all of its manifestations from which, ironically, creates a renewed  sources of strength, hope, faith, conviction  and light in our lives as Jews. The flames of these menorahs burn strong and bright, radiating light and life. They overshadow the darkness of religious persecution and antisemitism by bringing light to where light was thought to have been on the brink of being extinguished - which, of course, is the story of Hanukkah.
